Disney has added two more lightcycles to their collection of 3D Tron papercraft! On top is Kevin Flynn's personal lightcycle, said in the Tron: Legacy movie to be "the fastest on the grid". Below that is the lightcycle belonging to Flynn's archenemy, CLU. The templates for the lightcycles may be downloaded here and here. Previous official Tron papercraft by Disney included Sam Flynn's lightcycle and a recognizer.
The new Tron: Legacy movie will be released tomorrow in the US! Here's a custom Tron cubee by randyfivesix at DeviantART. Although not labeled as such, it presumably represents Sam Flynn dressed in his arena battle gear. Sam Flynn is the main character in Tron: Legacy. The template for the cubee is available here.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire was the first Disney animated film to have a Science Fiction theme. In the movie, a group of early twentieth century explorers locate the lost city of Atlantis. The inhabitants of Atlantis are found to wear necklaces with blue energy crystals which they use to power various machines in their city. The papercraft template for this Atlantean energy crystal was created by Mike at Biosocket.com for his kids who wanted a toy crystal after watching the movie. The template may be downloaded here. These are a couple of photos of my Tron papercraft designs built by DeviantART members. On the left is my full size Tron helmet papercraft built by supermagicfunguy. On the right is my Tron Legacy identity disc papercraft built by MasqueradeLover. This was MasqueradeLover's first papercraft build ever. Not an easy first build, but she did a great job! Nice work guys!
I made this genie bottle papercraft as a favor to my DeviantART friend, Fractaljinn. Fractaljinn wanted a papercraft model of the bottle of a female genie named Eden who is a character in the Aladdin animated television series by Disney. The series ran from 1994 to 1995. You may notice that the papercraft bottle doesn't have a handle like the one in the image from the TV show. Although a handle is included as part of the template, I sort of liked the way the bottle looked without it, so I didn't attach it when I did my test build. As a convenience to Fractaljinn who resides in Europe, the template was created for A4 size paper, so if you are printing on US Letter size paper you will need to use the "scale to fit" option. If printing on A4 paper, the finished bottle is roughly 40cm (15.75") tall. Another feature of the bottle is that the stopper is removable. Because the majority of the construction of the bottle is done by curving pieces of card stock, I give this a difficulty level of 4 out of 5. The PDF template for the bottle may be downloaded here.
At the end of the 1992 Disney movie Aladdin there is a battle. In this battle Jafar, the film's villain, is tricked by the hero Aladdin into using this third and final wish from a genie to transform into a powerful genie himself. Aladdin then traps Jafar in his genie form in a black lamp. A similar scenario plays itself out in the Kingdom Hearts I video game, only this time it is the game's main character Sora who traps Jafar in the lamp. This black lamp papercraft is based on a 3D model from Kingdom Hearts. Details are as follows:
Tron:Legacy, Disney's sequel to the 1982 movie Tron is set to be released in December 2010. In advance of the movie, DisneyFamily.com has released several craft items for kids including a 3D papercraft lightcycle and a 3D paper recognizer. Both the lightcycle and the recognizer are vehicles that appear in the original movie and they get an updated appearance for the new movie. These and other Tron goodies are available here.
Papercrafter Dave Winfield has an amazing collection of Hot Wheels scale papercraft cars available for download on his website. In addition to papercraft recreations of actual Hot Wheels toy cars from the the late 60's, Dave also offers small scale papercraft cars from movies and television. Pictured above (starting in the upper left and moving clockwise) are the Mystery Machine van from the Scooby Doo television show, Korben Dallas' flying taxi from the science fiction movie The Fifth Element, Snot Rod from the Disney Pixar movie Cars, and finally the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman movie. That lovable Disney robot Wall-E has been featured in several papercraft designs, but this is the only origami I have seen for the little guy. What is amazing about this particular model by Brian Chan is that it was folded out of a single uncut square of paper. A folding diagram and also a video of the folding process may be found at Chan's web page here.
Back in 1979 Disney tried to cash in on the Science Fiction movie craze caused by Star Wars and the result was The Black Hole. These two hovering robots known as V.I.N.CENT and B.O.B are from that movie. Another fine couple of sci fi papercraft by Cyberdrone based on the glue-less Cubee template, they may be downloaded here and here.
This is a full size papercraft model of the helmet that the character Alan Bradley wears after he is teleported inside a computer in the Tron 2.0 video game. Alan is the computer programmer who wrote the Tron program. The Alan Bradley character was played by actor Bruce Boxleitner in the Tron movie and voiced by Boxleitner in the video game. Except for the more elaborate decorative pattern, this helmet is very similar to helmets seen in the original movie. I was very pleased with how well the parts of this model fit together when I was building it. The finished model is sturdy enough to be worn, but it may require some padding inside to get it to fit correctly. Here is the template info:
I finally got around to finishing the companion to the Tron's Identity Disc papercraft I posted two weeks ago. This is the identity disc of Tron's enemy, Sark. In the original Tron movie, heros are colored blue while villians are colored red, so the red color of Sark's disc identifies him as a villian. In addition to the original movie, Sark is a boss in the Space Paranoids world of the Kingdom Hearts II video game. Albeit a little fuzzy, here is a taste of how he appears in the game:
Back in January after I posted my Tron Bit papercraft I got a request to do some Tron identity disc papercraft. Today I am finally delivering! The 3D model used to create this papercraft was taken from the Tron 2.0 video game. I created a disc texture to match Tron's own identity disc as it appeared in the original movie. Other disc models I am planning on posting in the future are Sark's identity disc and Jet's identity disc from Tron 2.0. The the disc base is my own design and is intended to match the bases that go with the Bits. In the Tron universe identity discs have multiple functions including offensive weapon, defensive weapon, and data storage device. Recognizer
In 2008, Nokhookdesign hand-screen T-shirt shop in Thailand sponsored the "Nokhook Paper Toy Project" in which a blank template was issued along with a call for original papertoy designs. This papertoy is one of the many designs that resulted. Based on the character "Eve" in the Disney movie Wall-E, this template was created by the owner of the DIY+ blog and is available for download here.
In the 1982 movie Tron ominous hovering vehicles called "recognizers" are used by the army of the villainous Master Control Program to capture programs and guard the game grid. The designer of this papercraft has attempted an accurate recreation of an recognizer even going as far as using clear acrylic rods to give the illusion that the individual parts of the recognizer are hovering separate from one another just as they appear in the movie. Downloads of both color and un-colored templates are available here. A template for a display stand is also available. This model is the work of Marco Scheloske, Germany, 2003.
This is my papercraft rendition of a Masonic medallion that appears in the 2004 Disney movie, National Treasure. In the movie, American treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates follows a series of cryptic clues to find an ancient treasure whose history is intertwined with the history of both Freemasonry and the Knights Templar. In the movie trailer, the medallion can be glimpsed briefly first in the hand of Christopher Columbus and then later in the hand of one of the Knights Templar: Having only two pieces, this 1:1 scale papercraft is embarrassingly simple, but it is sure to be appreciated by fans of the movie like myself. VW Beetle Series, Part 6
Here are two unrelated pairs of papercraft dice with skulls. The red pair on top are the Oogie Boogie's dice. Oogie Boogie is a villian from the 1993 Disney movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Oogie also is a reoccurring character in the Kingdom Hearts video game series. 
Based on some comments I received after posting my Tron Bit papercraft design, I have created some alternate templates.
